30 Nov What is Remy or Remi Hair? Why is Remy Human Hair Better for Extensions?
At FNLongLocks, we often get asked:
What is Remy hair? Why is Remy human hair better for hair extensions?
Remy hair is the highest grade of hair for hair extensions, and it is human, not synthetic, hair. “Remy” refers to human hair harvested from the scalp where the cuticle is kept pointed in the same direction as the hairs next to it. Because all the hair flows naturally from the same direction, Remy hair stays silkier and softer. The advantage to Remy hair is it is less prone to tangles and knotting.
Other methods for harvesting hair may simply shear hair from the head, and put it in a bag without regard to the way the cuticle layers of the hair line up. Other methods may also “treat” the hair removing some of its natural strength and quality.
At FNLongLocks, we prefer 100% Remy human hair for our hair extensions.
What are the advantages of human hair over synthetic hair extensions?
Human hair extensions can be dyed, styled, curled, straightened, and washed just like your own natural hair. Hair extensions made from synthetic hair cannot be heat styled like your real hair. They do not blend as well with your real hair, and can easily be detected by their artificial sheen.
Is the correct spelling “Remy” or “Remi”?
